"...On the other hand, Sari Maarit creates low relief forms from plaster of Paris that brings to mind lines, irregular surfaces, most similar to tracks in nature that the artist connects both to weather and landscape. One can see the line in these works either as the top of a wave on perpetual snow after clearing or as a mountain slope in the distance, but care must be taken not to interpret it as real landscape. Though the work is completely abstract and nothing obvious is to be found there, Sari Maarit manages to create a convincing atmosphere with these simple plaster forms.
It is as if the landscape, with all its variations in weather, exists at the back of these simple works..."

"...The low relief forms are all made of white plaster of Paris and are constructed on simple line formation while the shadows of each work are themselves left to develop tones in the landscape. The form of the work borders on abstract art but the landscape themes are clear, particularly when the titles of the works are kept in mind.
The work Kyrrð (tranquillity)
shows a mountain landscape reflected in a calm fjord in a fun way. The shadows there manage to create a sharper image in the upper part of the work of art that means that the reflection of the fjord gains increased believability. Cedergren obtains a similar effect in Hálendi (Highland). The acuity is greatest in the foreground of the artwork but fades as one comes into the inner horizon of the work. However, it may be in the work Regnskúr (rainshower) that Cedergren tries the hardest regarding the elasticity of her medium, and she definitely shows her ability when she conjures up a rain shower on part of the horizon.
Cedergren's work encompasses tradition to a large extent, and it can undoubtedly be categorized under saleable work as she does not threaten the viewer in any way. With the landscape works in Hafnarborg the artist demonstrates that she has complete control over her medium. Her landscapes encompass a certain believability, as Cedergren is equally aware of the shadow that her work relies on and the forms she creates from plaster of Paris. For such ability, she deserves praise...."

2000 The Time of Nature (Um tímans náttúru) - by Halldór Björn Runólfsson, Morgunblaðið, Daily Newspaper in Reykjavik, Iceland. 30. July, page 18. Critic. About the solo exhibition Á Seyði - Art festival in Seyðisfjörður, Iceland.

"...She (Sari Maarit Cedergren) has a very good sense of form for the shape of natural phenomena.
Instead of the observer looking into every corner so as to be sure to notice every little thing, Sari Maarit works in a traditional formal style using simple plaster low relief forms. A horizontal line runs through these relief forms that arcs up and down like contour lines in landscape.

These lines are formed by elevating the relief forms and can thus be seen as a mountain range if the relief forms were placed on the ground. However, in one row the lines in Sari Maarit's relief forms create a feeling of time extension or process that is observed from left to right like a graph or the lines of text in a book...."
